An integrated analytical laboratory specialising in biosurveillance, biosecurity, microbiome analysis, and environmental chemistry.
Independent analytical services for the health, environmental, agricultural and biosecurity sectors — from a single facility on the Queen's University Belfast campus.

Our capabilities
Microbiology & Genomics
Pathogen identification, AMR surveillance, microbiome analysis across animal, agricultural and environmental applications, and gut microbiome testing for health, wellness and sports performance.
Learn moreEnvironmental Chemistry
Comprehensive chemical analysis of soils, compost, slurry, digestate, water and wastewater — including Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) and Residual Biogas Potential (RBP) testing, soil health assessment, and carbon stock measurement.
Learn moreSurveillance & Biosecurity
Wastewater- and air-based epidemiology, environmental site surveillance, and biodefence.
Learn moreMost laboratories specialise. BioSeer integrates.
Soil chemistry plus soil microbiome. Water chemistry plus pathogen screening. Digestate quality plus AD process biology. By bringing chemistry, microbiology and genomics together on the same site, with the same scientists working alongside one another, BioSeer answers questions that single-discipline laboratories cannot — and turns measurements into actionable evidence.

Who we serve
Health & Hospitals
High-capacity, rapid-turnaround testing and surveillance — supporting NHS Trusts, private healthcare providers, care home owners and infection-control teams.
Agriculture & Food
Soil, slurry, digestate, compost and crop analysis. AD plant feedstock and biomethane testing. Farm pathogen surveillance and food chain biosecurity.
Water & Environment
Drinking water, wastewater, surface and recreational water testing. Blue-green algae and toxin profiling. Microbial source tracking and AMR surveillance.
Defence & Biosecurity
Sovereign UK biosurveillance capability. Air and wastewater surveillance for high-consequence pathogens. Genomic characterisation. Surge testing capacity.
Research
Bespoke analytical and bioinformatic support for academic, government and commercial research — from clinical trials to environmental research consortia.
Trusted by leading organisations
From pandemic response to integrated capability
Founded in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, BioSeer was the analytical partner for the Northern Ireland Department of Health's SARS-CoV-2 wastewater surveillance programme — pioneering monitoring of the virus and its variants across the region. That foundation in molecular diagnostics and public-health surveillance is the platform on which the integrated chemistry, microbiology and genomics capability has been built.

Wastewater epidemiology: the next frontier in biosurveillance
Governments used wastewater surveillance extensively during COVID-19. Now the same science is being applied to predict seasonal flu, norovirus and emerging variants — and commercial organisations are taking notice.

Protecting food production from pathogen risk in 2025
With norovirus outbreaks causing millions of pounds in production losses annually, food manufacturers are turning to environmental wastewater monitoring as a proactive line of defence.

Why commercial property managers should track viral variants
New variants do not just affect hospitals and care homes. Commercial landlords with duty-of-care obligations are discovering that variant tracking provides a compelling advantage in tenant safety assurance.
